WibuKey
4. Security with WibuKey
The security of WibuKey is based on the encryption of data or executable code via the WibuBox. You can just program one entry in a WibuBox, exisiting of a Firm Code and a User Code.
The programming of entries is only possible with a master box, the so called FSB (Firm Security Box). This FSB is unique and contains your Firm Code. Only you can program different entries combined with your Firm Code.
You determine the second part, the User Code. Protecting an individual application our customers are using one User Code per customer. Every software that your customer will get is protected exactly with this User Code and only this customer can use the special version of your software.
In most cases a User Code per product or per module is determined for all other software applications. This situation allows you to create and service one version of your software. Each customer who has bought for example module 1 will receive a WibuBox including a User Code for module 1. You can store up to 240 different modules in one WibuBox. If you need more you can extend this number via our Huge License Management (HLM).
The following parameters are part of the encryption: Firm Code, User Code, secret constants and parameters that can be choosen during runtime. So you can even influence the encryption during runtime! This increases the security of WibuKey dramatically compared with our competitors' products.
