devSec
Now entering its seventh year, devSec continues to steam ahead with its IT security mission. For this iteration of the popular event, the software development community will again descend on the gorgeous event venue at Karlsruhe's IHK. The many guests and speakers naturally include Wibu-Systems, the local IT security specialists who has been flying the IT protection, security, and licensing flag for more than three decades and who is proud to be Gold Sponsors of the event.
This year’s devSec will cover a broad range of topics, including secure architectures, supply chain security, best practices in cryptography, new attack vectors, applied data protection standards and much more. The agenda is packed with many exciting sessions on the workshop day and the two conference days and will include a talk by our very own Alvaro Forero, Head of the Product Security Incident Response Team and member of our Professional Services, on “The Battle of Technologies: Code Encryption or Obfuscation as the Answer to Piracy and Reverse Engineering”. In his contribution on 12 September at 2.15 pm, Alvaro will compare the two common routes chosen in software protection – encryption and obfuscation, with their unique advantages and drawbacks: Which of the two methods has the highest impact on performance? Which is more secure if the would-be hacker is already in possession of a license? How serious is the risk of reverse engineering software if it is held in plain text, was it just for a brief instant?
