Oliver Winzenried

Co-founder and CEO of WIBU-SYSTEMS AG, Germany

With a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University in Karlsruhe, Oliver began his entrepreneurial career immediately after completing his studies, and focused on electronic and ASIC design, hardware, microcontroller and embedded application development for consumer electronics, automotive and industrial engineering. With Marcellus Buchheit at his side, he then founded Wibu-Systems in 1989 and remains the company's CEO.

His passion for software protection has resulted in numerous patents covering areas from secure license management and anti-tampering solutions to dongle feature innovations. He is personally committed to R&D projects and organizations for standardization, such as the SD Card Association.

Oliver Winzenried is also a director of the VDMA regional association in the state of Baden-Württemberg, serves on the board of directors of the HealthTech working group of VDMA (Mechanical and Plant Engineering association), the board of directors of the VDMA Software and Digitalization Association, the board of directors of bitkom, and the managing board of the Foerderverein of the Research Center for Information Technology (FZI) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

In 2017, he received the Top Embedded Innovator of the Year award by the Embedded Computing Design editorial team, and the readers of the German electronics publication Markt&Technik elected him Manager of the Year twice, in the Automation category in 2015 and in the Pioneers and Innovators category in 2018.

As of 2023, Oliver is the Managing Director of the IT Security Club, a separate enterprise situated at the House of IT Security on Wibu-Systems’ Campus. The IT Security Club was founded to grow and shape the local community of IT security specialists through collaboration and support with project management and funding.

Marcellus Buchheit

Co-founder of WIBU-SYSTEMS AG, President and CEO of WIBU-SYSTEMS USA

Marcellus Buchheit is co-founder and Chairman of the Board of WIBU-SYSTEMS AG in Karlsruhe, Germany. He currently serves as the President and CEO of Wibu-Systems USA, Inc., located in Edmonds, WA where he resides.

Marcellus earned his Master of Science degree in computing science at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany in 1989. In the same year, he co-founded Wibu-Systems together with Oliver Winzenried. As the original architect and first software developer of the company’s successful CodeMeter, WibuKey, and SmartShelter product lines, he is well known in his field for his expertise in designing innovative techniques to protect software against reverse-engineering, tampering, and debugging. The products he designed have never been cracked by hackers in multiple public global contests.

Marcellus was an active member of the international Industry IoT Consortium (IIC), where he was involved in security, trustworthiness, and monetization initiatives between 2015 and 2023. He is one of the editors and authors of the Industry IoT Security Framework (IISF) document – a foundational publication.

He is a frequently invited speaker at industry events and has accepted many industry awards on behalf of Wibu-Systems, including SIIA CODiE awards in 2017, 2014 and 2009 in recognition of CodeMeter as the Best Content Rights and Entitlement Solution.

Thomas Oberle

Member of the Management Board of WIBU-SYSTEMS AG, Germany

Thomas Oberle holds a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Karlsruhe. He began his professional career as a hardware and embedded software developer for industrial fieldbus systems, machine controls, and operating devices.

After completing his postgraduate studies in industrial engineering at the Kaderschule St. Gallen (CH), he moved into management consulting. Working initially as a process consultant for innovation management, product development, and project management initiatives, he then became a senior consultant for production, purchasing, and supply chain management endeavors. As project manager for the implementation of SAP ERP systems, he gained profound knowledge of common best-practice business processes in manufacturing.

At WIBU-SYSTEMS AG, he is a member of the management team, responsible for organizational development, process optimization, and the use of methods and tools, as well as for program and product portfolio management.

Dola Zou

COO and Sales Director of WIBU-SYSTEMS (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.

After graduating at the University of Post and Telecommunication in Beijing with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication & Engineering, Dola gained a total of nine years of experience in software protection and licensing before joining WIBU-SYSTEMS (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., as COO and Sales Director in March 2009.

Dola Zou is responsible for expanding the market share of Wibu-Systems software protection portfolio in the Greater China Region and contributing to increasing awareness concerning the company’s core strengths in embedded systems protection throughout China’s manufacturing controls industry.

Tadashi Shiraki

Country Manager, WIBU-SYSTEMS K.K.

After earning his degree in mechanical engineering at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Tadashi has served in software sales and marketing positions at HP, Agilent Technologies, and MathWorks, for 28 years. He has helped customers succeed in model-based design and computational analytics/algorithm software design in various industries including automotive, robotics, communication systems, and semiconductor design, where security and safety integrity requirements such as ISO26262 and IEC61508 are increasing.

As Country Manager for WIBU-SYSTEMS K.K., Tadashi is now responsible for sales, support, and marketing in Japan. His main focus is contributing to the success of customers implementing secure protection and licensing mechanisms to achieve higher software monetizations goals.

JungJae Kim

Sales Director, WIBU-SYSTEMS Korea Ltd.

After earning his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, supported by an international scholarship, JungJae Kim has served in digital transformation and business development roles at Kyndryl, Siemens Korea, TATA Consultancy Services, and Gartner for over 20 years. He has developed and implemented effective, enterprise-wide strategies that maximize client value, focusing on digital transformation, cloud migration, and system integration across various industries, including manufacturing, telecommunications, and IT services.

As Sales Director for WIBU-SYSTEMS Korea Ltd., JungJae oversees sales, support, and marketing within the region. His primary goal is to help customers succeed by implementing secure protection and licensing mechanisms, thereby enhancing their software monetization strategies.

Marcel Hartgerink

General Manager of WIBU-SYSTEMS NV, WIBU-SYSTEMS BV, WIBU-SYSTEMS LTD and WIBU-SYSTEMS SARL

Marcel Hartgerink studied electronic engineering and developed his first software protection system for Atari-ST computers in 1988. He was later involved in developing biometric authentication systems for large corporations. In addition to his technical background, Marcel is also an expert in marketing innovative solutions.

He is currently general manager of WIBU-SYSTEMS NV, WIBU-SYSTEMS BV, WIBU-SYSTEMS LTD and WIBU-SYSTEMS SARL, and is in charge of marketing, sales, consultancy and support in The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom, Ireland, Scandinavia and the Baltics.
